20th Annual Blue and Gold Mine Sale

Annual Sale Returns to Stadium on May 17!

One of the area’s largest rummage sales is returning to Milan Puskar Stadium on WVU graduation weekend. The 20th Annual Blue & Gold Mine Sale will be back at the East Concourse (student gate) at the stadium on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

The early bird hours run from 7 a.m.-9 a.m. Early-bird admission is $5. Regular, free admission begins at 9 a.m. and runs until noon.

Back by popular demand, there will also be a special 50% off sale in the evening from 4-6 p.m. The 50% off sale is free to attend.

The popular bag sale is returning and will cost $25 per bag this year. Those who purchase a bag will be able to fill it with sale items so long as everything fits inside. The bag is one-time-use only.

The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties partners with the WVU Office of Sustainability to plan the Blue & Gold Mine Sale, which keeps 20-25 tons of items out of landfills each year. Sale items are collected from around town, whether it be from students who are moving out or community yard sale extras.

Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities!

Collections start April

Starting in April and running through May, five locations around town will be available as donation stations: Chateau Royale, the top of Falling Run Road, Grant Avenue, Area 81 – Mountaineer Station, and College Park Apartments (Willey Street entrance). Donation stations will also be in the WVU residence halls for student use.

Items accepted include, but are not limited to, furniture, electronics, clothing, sporting goods, seasonal décor, bedding/linens, books, kitchen utensils, storage containers, dishes, small appliances and office supplies. Items that are not accepted include televisions, monitors, mattresses, foam mattress toppers and box springs. Donations may be dropped off at the donation stations between 8 a.m.-8 p.m. April-May.

Volunteers needed

Volunteers are also needed to help with the sale, both leading up to and during the event. These volunteers will work to unpack and sort items at the sale site and help set up. Sign-up times are available at here on VolunteerMPC, or you can email Courtney Summers at courtney@unitedwaympc.org.

Money raised during the Blue & Gold Mine Sale goes toward the WVU United Way Campaign, which funnels into WVU’s contribution to the local United Way’s 2024 campaign. Since the sale’s inception, more than $200,000 has been raised for the WVU United Way Campaign. The United Way uses the funds to help 36 programs at 27 agencies across Mon and Preston counties, as well as internal programming such as the Helpful Harvest Food Program, WV211, the Mon County Family Resource Network, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
